Achievements

Deepbridge Horizon International College takes immense pride in the accomplishments of our students, faculty, and community, which reflect our dedication to excellence in a nurturing environment. Since our inception, we’ve amassed a collection of accolades that, while impressive, stem from the everyday grit and creativity of our members—complete with the occasional setback that makes success all the sweeter.

Student achievements shine brightest in academic competitions. In 2024, our Advanced Sciences team clinched first place at the European Youth Science Forum in Brussels, presenting a groundbreaking project on biodegradable plastics derived from algae. Individual honours include Sarah Patel, grade 12, who earned a gold medal in the International Biology Olympiad, scoring perfectly in practical exams despite a last-minute equipment glitch. Our Mathematics and Analytics pupils dominated the Dutch National Math Challenge, with three students placing in the top ten, their models for sustainable urban planning drawing praise from judges.

In technology realms, our engineering squad triumphed at the RoboCup Junior League in Amsterdam, their autonomous robot navigating complex mazes with AI precision. Alumni like Jasper van der Meer, class of 2023, now at MIT, credits his start to winning the Siemens Young Innovator Award for a solar-powered water purification device developed here.

Humanities successes include debate teams sweeping the Model United Nations conference in The Hague, where resolutions on climate policy were adopted unanimously. Creative Arts students exhibited at the Amsterdam Design Week, with one installation—a kinetic sculpture mimicking neural networks—garnering media coverage for its fusion of art and neuroscience.

Language programme pupils excelled in the European Language Competition, with multilingual essays on cultural integration winning top prizes. Overall, our students have secured over 50 international awards in the past five years, from science fairs to literary contests.

Faculty achievements bolster our reputation. Dr. Elena Rossi, head of Sciences, published in Nature on quantum entanglement applications, collaborating with Science Park colleagues. Principal Kali Swinton received the Dutch Education Innovation Award for our mentorship programme.

Institutional milestones include accreditation from the Council of International Schools in 2020, affirming our global standards. We’ve expanded scholarships, enabling 40% of students to attend on aid, and our sustainability initiatives earned the Green School Certification.

Community impacts are profound; student-led projects have contributed to local biodiversity studies, influencing park policies. We’ve hosted international symposia, drawing 500 attendees annually.

These achievements aren’t without humility—we’ve faced near-misses in competitions that taught resilience. Yet, they underscore our commitment to fostering talent that makes a difference.
